Volunteering

Enfys Alice relies entirely on our team of dedicated volunteers, and thank you very much for expressing an interest in volunteering with us. For more information and a volunteer application form please email enfysalice@felin-fach.co.uk

Because of the sensitive nature of our work we cannot accept volunteer applications for anyone who has been bereaved by suicide in the last two years prior to the date of the application

Please email enfysalice@felin-fach.co.uk if you’d like a chat before you apply to become a volunteer.

Values

The service is a trauma informed, rapid response service to support people after they have been affected by a suspected suicide. It aims to:

E

Engage

Make contact within 24 hours of a referral. To arrange to complete a plan for support with the person of the support needed.

N

Navigate

There are so many challenges people will face. Every person's journey is different. Helping people find the support and information they need to meet their emotional and physical needs is critical.

F

Flexible

Trauma impacts everyone differently. A bereaved person will have so many things to deal with. We have to be flexible in our approach and delivery of the service.

Y

Yours

The service is person centred. For the person recieving support they need to know “Its Your service, your say, your voice is the most important”

S

Signpost

Work alongside people to identify and access the services and support they want and need. To help them build their own support network in their community.

Alice

Actively Listen wIth Compassion and Empathy.

There is no one size fits all. Every person's journey will be unique to them, so will their needs.

Sometimes it might be just to listen, sometimes it might be to walk the dog.

It may be helping people understand the information they have been given, or it might be helping people give information that they 'have been asked for.

It's about meeting that practical and emotional need in a human way at that point of their journey.

It's about listening to what is most important to that person and working together with them to get them to where they want to be.

We understand we are asking you to make a big commitment to support people in this situation. We understand you need to be supported too.

There will be training for the role so you are equipped to give the best possible support.

There will always be an experienced member of the team to buddy up with you on visits if needed. We understand the challenges of supporting people  after a suspected suicide. We will be there to support you before, during and after you have given support.

There will be supervision and debriefing to ensure that we look after you too.
